Welcome To Running A Small Service Business!

"Look at him there, just cleaning away not a care in the world! No stress like us, we're here worrying about orders all day, all he has to do is clean windows!"

I was cleaning away...but racing through my mind was the next job I had to get to, the two invoices I needed to send, one I needed to chase up and the quotation for a new job I needed to get back to the client before the end of the week, last thing on my mind was the windows in front of me. That's second nature to me now after six years at it.

I was working in a suit shop on Saville Row when the one of the guys working there made his comment, I'm sure his job is very stressful and hard-work but he obviously thought my job was a doddle. This got me thinking, is that what people think of me? Not just me, all men and women who run a small service business? that we just wonder to work and its all there in front of us to get on with, then amble home without a care in the world?

I'm 21 years old and I run a limited company, a 'proper company' I clean windows for a living but I don't see it as that, in my mind i'm a business owner, even an entrepreneur. I think some people see me as a bit stupid because I'm not working in an office or working for someone else, meeting there demands and working towards their dreams and not my own.

In this blog I'm going to be talking about what it takes to run a small service business, from starting out with nothing and growing into a business that can sustain itself and give me a half decent wage, hopefully i'll be able to tell you about how I turned that small business into a large one which made me millions but for now ill stick with the small stuff!

I'll be taking about what its really like to run a business and the stigma that is attached to contractors when they try to run a legitimate business, everyone seems to think were all pirates who'll run off with forty quid in a flash not thinking about the thousands of pounds we've put into our businesses.

After all, we all have big plans for our businesses, huge dreams of being successful, yet some people think that its impossible from something so simple, like window cleaning, painting and decorating or a small building firm.

I'm going to leave it here for now, please follow, share, like..what ever you have to do if you'd like to read this blog on a regular basis and please comment with any topics you'd like to talk about.

Thanks for taking the time to read my blog.
